An interactive performance-based introduction to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cultures for pre-school and early primary school children

The children in the audience perform with Wendy and participate in song, dance, language and drama experiences that present contemporary, urban and remote images and ideas about Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Wendy’s presentation is based on the much loved songs featured on her ‘Growin’ Up Strong’ and ‘happy to be me’ CDs. Expressing the joy and pride that lives strong in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, the song lyrics also reflect life experiences that all children can relate to.
The performance honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, celebrates culture and educates all children and educators, encouraging them to appreciate Aboriginal and TSI cultures at a very young age.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
~ starting from song ~
The training is based on the Aunty Wendy’s Mob songs. Through the medium of dance, drama and language experiences, educators are inspired and supported to include cultural perspectives everyday.
Learn the actions that accompany the songs; unpack the cultural messages in the lyrics and how to extend those messages and include them in the learning environment.
